The emergency room at Florida Hospital East reopened shortly after a fire was extinguished in an electrical room near an elevator shaft, authorities said.
The hospital temporarily stopped taking emergency cases about 9 p.m. while firefighters investigated reports of smoke in the building.
Smoke was seen on the fifth floor, Orange County fire Lt. Eddie Brown said.
Patients were not evacuated from the building at 7727 Lake Underhill Road, a hospital spokeswoman said.
